The
following guide explains how to set up our dialup service on your Windows XP
computer.
It is assumed that you have
a modem connected to your computer and set up in Windows. Unless you have done
it before, you may also be asked to setup your telephone options, which simply
consists of entering your area code and telling Windows if you need to dial a
number (e.g. 9) to access an outside line.
If you get stuck at any
time, you may find the Windows Help files useful.
1 Open Control Panel (you can access this from the Start menu or My
Computer).

2 Double click on the Network Connections icon. If
your icons are divided into categories, click Network and Internet Connections and then Network Connections

3 In the Network
Tasks panel on the left, click Create
a New Connection.
If the Network Tasks panel
is not shown, click the File menu
then New Connection.
Whichever method you use,
you will see the New Connection Wizard appear. Click Next
to go to the first step.
4. First you are asked what
type of connection to create. Select Connect to the Internet and click Next.

5. On the next screen,
choose Set up my connection manually
and click Next.

6. Next,
choose Connect Using a dial-up modem
and click Next.

7. Select the modem from the list provided. If
you do not see this option simply move onto option 8

8. The next
step of the wizard asks for a name for your new connection. Enter a name and
click next.

9. Next you
will be asked for the phone number for the connection.
The phone
number for a EMNET
standard dialup is 0845 604 1058.
The number for a EMNET
static IP dialup is 0845 604 0383.
Caller ID must not be withheld for the standard number

10. The
final part of the wizard asks for the login details. Enter the Username and
Password supplied by EMNET

11. You
will then see a summary page, check the box to add a shortcut to the connection
to your Desktop. Click Finish and you're done!

12. Now
double click the new desktop Icon to connect
