Virtual Storage is the amount of physical hard drive space your account is allocated. You can use your allocation as you wish. For the smaller business the 100 Mb included in our Business Bronze plans provides more than enough space for a web site, databases, mailboxes and whatever else you want to do.

Data Transfer

Every time a document is viewed by a visitor to your site the relevant files must be transferred to the visitor's browser, your transfer allowance is the total amount of data transfer your account is allocated per month.

A typical web page including pictures averages around 50 Kilobytes. From this you can work out approximately how many page views per month your account is able to serve:

Domain Name

All our hosting plans include the free registration of a new domain name, or the transfer of your existing domain name. Your domain name is your address on the Internet.

POP 3 / Web Mail

POP3 is a client/server protocol in which e-mail is received and held for you by your Internet server. E-mail accounts can be set up for staff members with their own user name and passwords.

Email Forwarding

This is a mechanism whereby emails can be automatically forwarded to another e-mail address.

Email Aliases

As well as creating POP3 email accounts that store email for a given address, you can also create email aliases. An alias is an email address that does not actually store messages, but instead sends them to a different address. An alias can send messages to another email account, and external address, a list of addresses, or to a program.

Email Catch All Alias

A catchall email address will collect all email sent to any name @yourdomain.co.uk that is not already listed as a user or alias and route it all to one user.

Autoresponders

An autoresponder is a message (created by you) that is sent automatically to anyone who mails a particular e-mail address.

Raw Data Log

Raw data logs provide a detailed account of all activity on your website. Access to this data is available via FTP.

Web Statistics

All our hosting packages come with web statistics packages that provide graphical analysis of your web traffic. This information enables you to identify which pages are most popular, who visits most often, what times of the day your sites gets the most hits, etc.

Daily Backups

This involves making copies of the data held on our servers, archiving your website and database to a tape storage library. All our servers are backed up nightly to remote systems for added peace of mind.

Uptime Guarantee

Uptime refers to the availability of your website to visitors. For our Corporate level hosting plans EMNET will endeavour to have your web site available for http access by third parties 99% of the time.

Control Panel Access

All our hosting plans come with a control panel that allows you to perform a wide variety of tasks on your account eg: change your password, set up e-mail aliases, etc.

Unique IP Address

An IP Address is the numerical address of a computer on the Internet. A dedicated IP address is an address that is unique to your site, this means that you are the only site at this address.

24/7 FTP Access

All hosting plans include password protected FTP access with which to upload (and administer) the files that make up your web site. Any standard FTP client can be used to manage your files including Cuteftp, WS_ftp and even Windows own explorer file management.
